Seven youth arrested for allegedly raping a 14 years old girl who is now pregnant of 23 weeks, police said on Thursday in Doomdooma, Tinsukia district of Assam. Report said that among the arrested youth, four of them are minors.
The girl was lured to a schedule spot, while she was playing with her friends and taken to different location. There she was allegedly raped by seven persons who covered her eyes and face with cloths.
Following the incident, an FIR was logged in the police station which led to arrested seven of the individuals.
Tinsukia Superintendent of Police, Gaurav Abhijit Dilip, provided important details, by stating, “The girl is pregnant by 23 weeks approximately. During the investigations, we came to know that seven individuals have been held and four are minor by age. We will file the charge sheet as we have all the evidence along with the medical report which proves that the girl has been sexually assaulted.”
The accused youth are identified as Bhola Tanti, Aditya Yadav, Vikas Sahani, Krishna Prasad, Sahil Prasad, Vikas Tasa, and Tulku Limbu.
The incident was revealed much later because the accused’s families had threatened the victim’s family with serious consequences if they informed the police.
It was reported to the police only after several women and social organizations intervened.
