For the first time in Assam, Seaplane services are set to launched, which marks the development for the transportation and tourism sectors, in Northeast India.
A test flight has been witnessed in Guwahati Today, after taking off from Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport and landed on the water of the Brahmaputra River at Pandu Ghat.
The test run was part of a joint effort between the Civil Aviation Ministry and Canadaโs aircraft maker, De Havilland.
Tourism Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah and Mayor Mrigen Sarnia were seen to experience the ride on the plane.
Addressing the press Media Tourism Minister stated, โItโs historic day for Assam and the tourism scenario of the State since itโs for the firm that a Seaplane has landed anywhere in the state. We definitely need 6 months to a year to operate the seaplane in the state. We will try our best to begin its operation as soon as possible.โ
He stated via X, โThis morning, participated in an ‘Amphibian Airplane’ demonstration in Guwahati by M/s De Havilland Canada in collaboration with the Ministry of Civil Aviation. Taking off from LGBI Airport and landing at Pandu Ghat, this brief yet remarkable journey showcased the immense potential of seaplanes in enhancing Assamโs tourism. I am optimistic that future collaborations will create unique experiences for tourists and further strengthen Assamโs tourism sector.โ
CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Stated, โOpening up new horizons of tourism & transport Earlier today, a sea plane successfully landed at Pandu Ghat on the banks of Brahmaputra, marking the first river landing in Eastern India, which will open new chapters of connectivity in a riverine state like Assam Great work.โ
