In a decisive move to strengthen national defense capabilities, the Indian Armed Forces have initiated extensive military drills at the Dollungmukh Firing Range, located in the Dulung Reserve Forest of Lakhimpur district, Assam. The site lies close to the Arunachal Pradesh border, a strategically important frontier.
The training operation begins on May 20 and will continue until August 31, which include bomb detonations, rocket launches and aerial firepower displays.
Public Access Prohibited at Dollungmukh Range for Safety reasons
To ensure public safety, the Lakhimpur district administration, in collaboration with the Forest Department, has imposed a strict ban on civilian movement within the vicinity of the firing range. Residents have been advised to stay away from the restricted area and remain vigilant to avoid risks to life and property.
First Full-Scale Rocket and Aerial Bombardment at Dollungmukh

While the Indian Air Force (IAF) has previously used the Dollungmukh range for aerial training from Tezpur Air Base, this is the first instance of full-spectrum rocket and aerial bombardment exercises being conducted at the site. This shift marks a significant enhancement in India’s military readiness in the northeastern sector.
