A Pakistani Ranger detained by BSF and taken into custody from along the International Border in Rajasthan, India on Saturday.
The development follows a BSF jawan of India, who was detained by Pakistan Rangers after he accidently crossed the border, on April 23, after the Pahalgam Attack.
India and Pakistan usually follow a set process to return BSF soldiers who cross the border by mistake. However, due to rising tensions, Pakistan has not yet released Mr. Sahu. Despite strong protest from India site, Pakistan has refused to release him. It’s still unclear how India will respond regarding the captured Pakistani ranger.
Efforts are ongoing to secure the release of BSF jawan Mr. Sahu, captured by Pakistan Soldier after reportedly crossing the border by mistake. A senior official told PTI that the Pakistani authorities may be delaying his release due to the current tensions between the two countries, especially after the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam. In the past, such accidental crossings were usually resolved quickly.
Meanwhile, Pakistani social media has shared a photo of Mr. Sahu. In one image, he is seen blindfolded in a vehicle, and in another, he is standing under a tree with his rifle, magazine, belt, and other belongings placed on the ground.
After the incident the senior officials has alerted all the army officials to stay extremely alert while on duty and avoid accidental crossings, especially with tensions running high. Even local farmers near the border have advised to stay cautious.
The tension between India and Pakistan escalated after the April 22, Pahalgam terrorist attack, where 26 people killed at the Bairsan Valley of Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, popular tourist place.
