In a tragic accident on the night of November 1, a young man from Kapatanpur, Sonai, Cachar lost his life while attempting to elope on a motorbike with his alleged girlfriend.
According to reports, the accident took place in the Gachtal area of Amjurghat on Kazidahar Road in Sonai, Cachar district, when the speeding bike lost control and crashed into a bridge railing.
The young man, identified as Sanjit Rabidas from Kapatanpur, died at the spot. His alleged girlfriend, who is a minor, and another friend who was with them, both suffered serious injuries. None of them were wearing helmets, and they were riding triple on the bike, which contributed to the accident’s severity.
Reports indicate that Sanjit had previously also tried to elope with the minor girl a week ago but was made to return her to her family after police intervened.
On November 1, he made another attempt with the friend, but their plan ended in by loosing one life.
An Eyewitnesses described the high speed collision as severe, with the impact throwing all three onto the road off their bike.
Local authorities arrived at the scene immediately and rushing the injured to Silchar Medical College for urgent treatment.
