A stampede incident took place in New Delhi Railway Station where at least 18 people died and 10 other injured on Saturday night. 11 woman and 5 children were among the dead people.
As per report, thousands of people crammed into the railway station as they tried to board delayed train for the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj.
In a statement Minister of Railways stated that a high-level inquiry has ordered into the “unfortunate incident.”
An official said that many people were on platform 14 while the Prayagraj Express was waiting to depart.
He also mentioned that two other trains, the Swantrata Senani Express and the Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express, were delayed, and their passengers were on platforms 12, 13, and 14.

Prime Minister Narendra Stated through X, “Distressed by the stampede at New Delhi Railway Station. My thoughts are with all those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that the injured have a speedy recovery. The authorities are assisting all those who have been affected by this stampede.”
Ashwini Vaishnaw, Ministers for Railway, Information & Broadcasting, Electronics & information Technology, Government of Bharat stated, “Deeply saddened by the unfortunate stampede that occurred at New Delhi Railway Station. My prayers are with all those who have lost their loved ones. The entire team is working to assist all those who have been affected by this tragic incident.”
He also stated, “High-level inquiry ordered,” on the New Delhi Railway Station Stampede incident.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announce ex-gratia for Bihar natives
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday expressed grief over the deaths in the stampede at New Delhi Railway Station and announced financial aid for the families of those from Bihar who died.
A statement from the CMO said., “The CM has expressed condolences over the casualties in the stampede at the New Delhi railway station. He is deeply saddened by the deaths of Bihar natives in the incident and announced an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh each to the immediate family members of the deceased and ₹50,000 for those who are injured.”
Police reveals the details of the deceased, who killed in New Delhi Railway Station Stampede
Police has released the details of the 18 people who killed in stampedeon Saturday night.
The tragedy happened when a large crowd gathered on platforms 14 and 15 at New Delhi Railway Station to board trains to Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh. Northern Railway’s spokesperson, Himanshu Upadhyay, said that during the incident, the Patna-bound Magadh Express was at platform 14, and the New Delhi-Jammu Uttar Sampark Kranti Express was at platform 15.

New Delhi Railway Station Stampede: Latest Updates
Indian Railways has announced compensation for the victims of the stampede. The families of those who lost their lives will receive ₹10 lakh, while those seriously injured will get ₹2.5 lakh. People with minor injuries will given ₹1 lakh.
