The night sky over Moscow turned into a breathtaking spectacle when a mysterious UFO like green fireball streaked across the horizon, dazzling early morning commuters and residents across the Russian capital. The rare celestial event, captured in multiple videos and widely shared online, sparked both awe and curiosity about its origin.

Green Fireball Captivates Moscow Residents

In the early hours of October 27, 2025, people across Moscow and nearby regions witnessed a glowing green object racing through the sky. The fireball, visible for several seconds, left behind a sparkling trail that illuminated the dawn sky. Its vivid colour and the way it fragmented mid-air resembled what scientists refer to as a “fireball” — a bright meteor burning up in Earth’s atmosphere.

Expert Comparison to 2013 Chelyabinsk Meteor

According to a report by Gulf News, geologist Sergio Almazan compared the sighting to the 2013 Chelyabinsk meteor, which exploded over Russia, causing significant damage and injuries. Thankfully, this recent Moscow event resulted in no harm or property damage, serving only as a mesmerizing display of nature’s cosmic fireworks.

Scientists Confirm Meteor Activity of Moscow

Sergi Bogatchev, a researcher at Russia’s Space Research Institute, confirmed to local media that the glowing green object was most likely a small meteor that disintegrated upon entering Earth’s atmosphere. The trajectory, speed, and breakup pattern matched typical meteor behaviour caused by intense friction with atmospheric gases.

While the Moscow fireball left spectators stunned, scientists assured that such events, though rare, are natural occurrences — a reminder of the fascinating and sometimes unpredictable nature of our universe.

Another user said, “bright unidentified object with a green glow was spotted in the sky over Moscow Early in the morning, Muscovites saw a bright green ball with a tail in the sky – it flew over the city and broke into pieces. The object was also seen in Istra, Fryazino, Ramenskoye, Lyubertsy, and Krasnogorsk.

There are several theories – some even suggest it could be the work of AI. But the main possibilities are: either a meteorite, or a burned-out satellite or a piece of space debris. Experts lean towards the latter: the speed was too low for a meteorite, and the green color indicates nickel – which is used to make parts of space equipment. Coincidence or not, but on the same night, air defense shot down 193 Ukrainian drones, 34 of them approaching Moscow. – Ostashko”
