The Student Purnachandra Barman of Silchar who went missing on New Year Eve, week after his dead body discovered in the Barak River. He was a student of GC College, Silchar of Arts department.
According to reports, he went missing on December 31, 2024 after leaving from his rented room in Chencoorie road, Silchar at 11 pm. He was a residents of Borkhola’s Uzan village in Cachar. He used live in Silchar with sister. On January 1, his family lodged a missing complaint in the police station.
Despite searching effort the police didn’t managed to find him. On Tuesday locals of Katigorah, Cachar found a decomposed dead body in the river of the Barak and inform police. Later the dead body was identified by Barman’s family. The dead body was recovered and sent Silchar Medical College and Hospital for Post mortem examination.
Police also found a mobile phone and headphones near the scene, but the SIM Card was missing from phone. The discovery of the body has sparked suspicions of foul play, with early investigations indicating that Barman might have been killed prior to being disposed of in the river. Authorities are actively working on the case to reveal the truth.
