A massive fire broke out at the Jamjam Market Complex located along the Old Station Road in Sribhumi late Friday night. This massive fire destroyed at least 15 godowns and several shops, and causing panic among local residents and business owners.
The fire reportedly started at around 12:00 AM, after that it quickly spread through the dense commercial area. Within minutes, the flames engulfed large portions of the market, including storage units and multiple retail establishments. Eyewitnesses described a terrifying scene as giant flames lit up the night sky, triggering chaos and fear in the vicinity.

Crores of Rupees in Damages
Initial reports suggest that the financial losses could run into several crores of rupees, with many traders losing entire stocks of merchandise. Many of the affected godowns stored large quantities of flammable goods, which likely contributed to the rapid spread of the fire.
Delay Allegations, Firefighters Respond Swiftly
Although some local residents alleged a delay in the arrival of fire services, the Fire Department mobilized 10 fire engines from different stations. Firefighters battled the inferno for nearly four hours, managing to bring the situation under control by around 4:00 AM, thereby preventing the flames from spreading to adjacent areas, including a much larger section of the market.
Possible Cause: Short Circuit
Authorities suspect that the fire may have been caused by an electrical short circuit, a common issue in congested commercial hubs. However, officials have launched a full-scale investigation to determine the precise cause of the incident.
No Casualties Reported
Fortunately, there were no reports of human casualties or injuries, as most of the godowns were unoccupied at the time the fire broke out. Local police and district administration have cordoned off the area and are monitoring the situation.
Traders Demand Compensation
Business owners affected by the blaze have urged the government for immediate relief and compensation, citing total loss of inventory and property. The district administration has promised to assess the damage and extend necessary support to those impacted.
