Massive Protest Broke out at Sutarkandi near India-Bangladesh Border under Sribhumi district of Assam against attacks Hindus in Bangladesh on December 1, 2024.

Thousands of Protestor gathered under the Banner of ‘Bangladesh Chalo’ movement at the Sutarkandi India-Bangladesh Border. The protest organized by various Sanatani groups, as the protest condemned alleged minority oppression in Bangladesh and called for the release of Maharaj Chinmoy Krishna Das. The demonstration turned violent as protesters clashed with security forces, leaving one protester injured.

The protest took place about one kilometer away from the border, where Hindu nationalist organized rallied in large number of people displaying their discontent with strong resolve.
Protesters seen stepping on the Bangladeshi flag during bike rallies while chanting slogans like “Jai Shri Ram,” Yunus Sarkar Hai Hai”, and “Yunus Murdabad”.

Tension broke out in the area, Security Forces responded immediately and tried to maintain the situation. Police with parliamentary force, led by SP were also deployed to maintain and control the situation.

Protestors, tried to break barricades in an effort to cross Bangladesh, but authorities swiftly intervened to keep order in the sensitive area.

300 security forces deployed in the area to prevent the protest from reaching the border. BSF are on alert for any untoward situation.

The “Bangladesh Chalo” movement has drawn attention to the reported mistreatment of minorities in Bangladesh, with participants demanding swift action to safeguard minority rights. The incident highlights the increasing tension at the border and places added pressure on both Indian and Bangladeshi authorities to address the concerns raised by the demonstrators.

Police is now trying to stop the protest and sent the protestor back from the border area.
