An incident took place in Juria, Nagaon, Assam, where a murder case has rocked after a late-night altercation between two groups allegedly resulted in the death of a local resident, Abdul Rahim. The incident has taken a sensational twist as serious allegations have emerged against several self-styled portal journalists and one journalist linked to a satellite news channel.
According to local sources, the confrontation reportedly erupted late Wednesday night at Juria Bazaar between Ashfikur Rahman, identified as a portal journalist, and Abdul Rahim of Kadamoni Pathar village, along with members of Rahim’s family. The cause of the altercation remains unclear, but it soon escalated into a violent physical clash.
Earlier, on Thursday, Ashfikur Rahman filed a police complaint alleging that Rahim’s family had assaulted him. However, this situation worsened on Friday when Abdul Rahim was found dead under mysterious circumstances. The incident prompting the local outrage and suspicion of foul play.
In a shocking revelation, Rahim’s wife has accused Ashfikur Rahman and his associates of attacking her husband. She claimed that Rahim was found critically injured near a local shop on Thursday morning, but despite his condition, medical help was allegedly denied. She further alleged that Fazlul Haque, a journalist associated with a satellite TV channel, along with several portal reporters, threatened the family against calling police or seeking treatment, which may have contributed directly to his death.
Juria Police have registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), numbered 202/2025, and invoked Sections 103(1) (murder), 351(2) (group assault), and 3(5) (criminal intimidation). The body of the deceased has been sent to Nagaon Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
