In the night of Friday, a man attempted to kill a woman in Guwahati. The victim is undergoing treatment for injuries to her abdomen and neck at Gauhati Medical College Hospital.
The man is identified as Bikas Deka from Baihata Chariali. He reportedly attacked the young woman multiple times. The incident occurred around 9 pm last night in Hatigaon area of Guwahati when the victim woman was returning to her rented accommodation after buying essentials.
After committing the crime, the accused fled from the scene but soon he was arrested by the Hatigaon police from Fatashil Ambari area in the city.
Bikas by profession driver, suspected to have committed the crime due to Urmila’s alleged new relationship with another man.
Police also recovered the knife that was used during attack.
