A tragic Incident took place on Monday in Madhya Pradeshโ€™s Ujjain Mahakal Jyotirlinga Temple. A major fire broke out during the Bhasma Arati in early morning inside the sanctum sanctorum (garb griha) of the temple as part of Holi festivities.

It said that at least 14 people injured in the incident. They are all priest who was present in the time of Arati. The priest who are burns or injured they immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Ujjain Collector Neeraj Singh said that the blaze took place in the garb griha of the Mahakal Temple during aarti.

He also stated, “Fourteen priests sustained burn injuries. Some are receiving treatment at the district hospital here, while eight transferred to Indore for treatment. A thorough investigation has initiated, led by Zila Panchayat CEO Mrinal Meena and Additional Collector Anukool Jain. They will submit a report within three days,”.

He explained, “The fire began when colored powder, known as ‘gulal,’ accidentally fell onto the puja thali containing burning ‘kapoor’ (camphor). It then spread onto the floor, escalating into a blaze.โ€

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav went to the hospital where the injured priest admitted to inquired about the well being. He also talk to the doctor for the better treatment.

He said ,โ€Instructions have been given to make arrangements for better treatment of the injured in the accident that took place during Bhasma Aarti at Shri Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga Temple, and an assistance amount of Rs 1 lakh each will also be provided to the injured. By the grace of Baba Mahakal, there has been no major loss, but instructions have also been given to make appropriate arrangements so that such accidents do not happen again in future.โ€

The each injured people will get amount of 1 lakh.

PM Narendra Modi, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister expressed grief over the Ujjain Mahakal Temple incident

PM Narendra Modi expressed grief over the incident through X. He said, โ€œThe accident that happened in Mahakal temple of Ujjain is very painful. I wish for the speedy recovery of all the devotees injured in this accident. Under the supervision of the state government, the local administration is engaged in every possible help to the victims: PMNarendra Modi.โ€

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said, โ€œThe accident that happened this morning during Bhasma Aarti in the sanctum sanctorum of Baba Mahakal temple is sad. I have been in touch with the administration since morning. Everything is under control. It is a prayer to Baba Mahakal that all the injured get complete recovery soon.โ€
