The first phase of the Lok Sabha Election took place on 19 April in 21 State of India. Among this 21 Sate Manipur also one of the state where the first of election held in districts.

The Chief Electoral Officer on 22 April announced that Re-Polling or voting will be conducted in 11 polling station in the inner Manipur Lok Sabha constituencies. The decision was taken in response to a directive from the Election Commission which deemed the initial polls conducted on April 19 invalid, requiring a new round of voting.

According to the Chief Electoral Officer of Manipur, โ€œThe Election Commission of India ha under Sections 58(2) and 58A(2) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, directed that the poll taken on April 19 in respect of 11 polling stations listed in the table below of 1-inner Manipur parliamentary constituency to be void and appointed April 11, 2024, Monday as the date for taking fresh poll at the said polling station with hours from 7:00 am to 5.00 am.โ€

The polling station where repolling will be conducted are Moirangkampu Sajeb Upper Primary School and S. Ibobi Primary School (East Wing), in the Khurai assembly constituency, four in Kshetrigao, one in Thongju, three in Uripok, and one in Konthoujam.

What happened in Manipur Election Polling Station where Repolling will be take place?

Reports surfaced from conflict-ridden Manipur of gunfire, intimidation, and damaged electronic voting machines (EVMs) at various polling stations, alongside accusations of booth capture during the initial phase of Lok Sabha elections on April 19. The state has been contending with ethnic unrest since the preceding May.

In connection with the same shooting violence, one civilian was reportedly injured, and confrontations erupted at a polling station in Moirangkampu Sajeb Awang Leikai of Imphal, Manipur, during the Lok Sabha election voting process.

According to Block Level Officer for Moirangkampu, Sajeb Surbala Devi, โ€œSuddenly two men came here and asked for polling agents of the Congress and BJP. They took the Congress gaent outside by holding his hand. Then the two men fired shots from inside the car. One person got injured.โ€
