According to local fire officials in Zamora, Spain, two men, aged 28 and 26, lost their lives after their vehicle caught fire following a crash, as reported by the Daily Mail.
Portuguese PM Luís Montenegro confirmed, “The news of the death of Diogo Jota, an athlete who greatly honored Portugal’s name, and his brother unexpected and tragic. I extend my deepest condolences to their family. It is a sad day for football and for national and international sports.”
Liverpool FC stated, “Liverpool Football Club are devastated by the tragic passing of Diogo Jota.”
How the car of Diogo Jota accident happened?
The Portuguese Football player Diogo Jota was driving his Lamborghini when the car reportedly suffered tyre burst overtaking on the A-52 highway near Cernadilla, in Zamora province, close to Portuguese border.
His younger brother Andre Silva age 26, a professional footballer who played for Portuguese side FC Penafiel was also in the car. Both died in the accident.

Emergency services responded swiftly to multiple distress calls.
“The 1-1-2 Castilla y León operations room received several calls reporting a vehicle accident at Km. 65 of the A-52, in the municipality of Cernadilla, Zamora. A car had crashed and on fire,” confirmed emergency responders from the Castilla and León region in an official statement.
This devastating incident happened just weeks after the footballer, married his longtime partner Rute Cardoso in Porto on June 22. The couple, who shared three children, had recently celebrated their wedding with joy and love.
