Landslide hit Haflong–Silchar NH-27 Near Lumding; Heavy vehicle stranded for days

The road of Haflong–Silchar NH-27 come to come to a complete standstill due to a series of landslide triggered by continuous rainfall in Lumding, Assam’s Dima Hasao district. Hundred vehicle has stuck on both sides of the highway.

A fresh landslide occurred near Lumding Bypass on Monday which blocked the road, which affected earlier.

As a results hundred of vehicles, including truck with essential items has stuck in mid-way on the both sides of the clocked area. The impacted highway—also designated as NH-6 in certain sections—is a key transport corridor connecting Guwahati with Silchar and Agartala.

Its closure has severely hampered the movement of goods and passengers, sparking growing concerns over supply chain disruptions and regional connectivity. This highway serves as a crucial link connecting Assam’s Barak Valley to the rest of the state and the northeastern region.

There is no clear indication that when the traffic will resume.

Authorities have advised commuters to avoid this route until further notice. The restoration work will begin soon, once weather conditions improve.
