The landslide has disrupted the train services in Lumding–Badarpur route of Assam again. Landslide has took place again on Sunday (July 6) night near Mupa station (at the 50/2 km mark).
This makes third major landslide on the route since 23 June, 2025. Lastly on Saturday night landslide took place, which was cleared from the route on Sunday noon, but again landsilde has stopped the route. The first incident occurred near New Haflong.
In the monsoon season, Northeastern region receive heavy rainfall and Assam is among the state of the region. Because of heavy rainfall landslide took place in the hilly areas. Dima Hasao district is hilly area.
Several Train Stranded because of landslide in Lumding–Badarpur Rail route
As a result of the latest landslide, several trains are stranded at various stations as of Monday morning:
- Kanchanjunga Express (Sealdah to Sabroom) is stuck at Lumding.
- Guwahati–Silchar Express is stranded at Manderdisa.
- Agartala–Rani Kamalapati Express is halted at Maibang.
- Silchar–Rangiya Express is stuck at New Haflong.
The Lumding–Badarpur section is a vital railway link in Northeast India, connecting major cities like Guwahati, Silchar, Agartala, and others. Railway authorities are closely monitoring the situation and working on clearing debris and restoring the track. However, passengers are advised to check train status before traveling, as delays and cancellations are likely to continue.
