Today, 19 May 2024 Jyoti Ratre has conquer Mount Everest and become the oldest Indian Woman to conquer the Everest. She is 55 years old. At around 6.30 am she reached the summit of the mountain.

Jyoti Ratre is an entrepreneur and fitness enthusiast from Madhya Pradesh, India. Ratre’s achievement comes exactly six years after Sangeeta Bahl, at 53, recognized as โ€˜Indiaโ€™s oldest woman to climb Mount Everest’ on May 19, 2018. This was Ratre’s second attempt to reach the summit of the world’s highest peak. In 2023, she had to turn back from 8,160 meters due to severe weather.

Jyoti Ratreโ€™s Husband KK Ratre said, โ€œI am overwhelmed with excitement and pride on hearing that she just summited Mount Everest. Her strength, determination, and resilience are truly inspiring.

He also said This was Jyoti’s second try. High winds forced her to retreat from 8,160 meters. She waited patiently at Camp IV, hoping for the winds to calm down. Eventually, she made the difficult decision to abandon the climb, planning to return the following season to conquer the world’s highest peak. “And she did it, proving that nothing is beyond reach.โ€

Jyoti Ratre successfully climbed Mount Everest with a team of 15 members from 8K Expeditions, led by Bolivian climber David Hugo Ayaviri Quispe.

Who is Jyoti Ratre?

Before becoming a mountaineer, Jyoti Ratre was a full-time entrepreneur running a school uniform business in Bhopal. However, at the age of 52 in 2021, she embarked on a remarkable journey, conquering peaks like Island Peak, Mt Elbrus (5,642m), Mt Kilimanjaro (5,895m), and Kosciuszko.

Despite her entrepreneurial commitments, Ratre pursued her dream of mountaineering. Utilizing the time during the Covid-19 pandemic, she focused on improving her fitness and honing her skills for mountaineering. Her dedication paid off when she successfully scaled Mount Everest as part of a 15-member expedition team from 8K Expeditions, led by Bolivian climber David Hugo Ayaviri Quispe.

Ratre’s achievement is not only remarkable for her personal journey but also for breaking barriers and proving that age is no limit to pursuing one’s dreams. Her story serves as an inspiration to many, showcasing the power of determination and perseverance in achieving goals.
