Indian people who want to went to Japan will no longer needed to get physical visa stickers on their passport. The Japan has started issuing e-visa for Indian tourist. The tourist who wanted to travel to Japan can apply online for visa electronically Through Japan Visa Application Center operates by VFS Global.
From, 1 April the E-Visa issuing has began for Indian Tourist. The new Japan e-Visa program lets anyone apply for a visa online through Japan Visa Application Centers run by VFS Global. With this program, tourists can stay in Japan for up to 90 days.
In the updated system, applicants still need to submit their applications to the Visa Application Centers managed by VFS Global, just like before. However, there’s a significant change in how visas are given out. Instead of getting visa stickers on their passports, successful applicants will now get electronic visas.
To use the e-Visa process, travelers need to show a ‘visa issuance notice’ on their phone at the airport. In that time you must have internet access for this. Any other form, such as PDFs, photos, screenshots, or printed copies, won’t be accepted as Valid.

How to Apply for Japan E-Visa?
- Go to the official website of the Japan Visa Application Centre managed by VFS Global at https://visa.vfsglobal.com/ind/en/jpn/.
- Select the “Temporary Visitor Visa” option and carefully read all visa requirements. After that Download the application form, fill it carefully and print it. Make sure to fill in all fields correctly. Also, make photocopies of the necessary documents for the short-term tourism visa.
- Book an appointment to submit your application at the Visa Application Centre. Once booked, you’ll get a confirmation email for your appointment along with the appointment letter.
- Submit your completed visa application form at the center during your appointment. Then, wait for an email notification informing you when your decision is ready for collection. You can track your visa application progress online using the reference number provided on your invoice or receipt. If approved, you’ll receive an electronic visa instead of a physical visa sticker. However, remember to show a “visa issuance notice” on your mobile device when you arrive at the airport.
- During airport check-in, show the “visa issuance notice” on your device. The travel agency will provide a “Visa Issuance Notice” with a barcode. Scan the barcode using your device, enter the required details, and tap “Display” to view the electronic “visa issuance notice.”
Important Notes
- (1) JAPAN eVISA is available only to those who travel to Japan by plane.
- (2) During the application process, the applicant may be requested to appear in person at the Japanese overseas establishment with jurisdiction over the place of the applicant’s residence for an interview.
- (3) Only ordinary passport holder is eligible to apply through JAPAN eVISA website.
