At least 12 people died after cloudburst hit Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir on 14 August, 2025, which result flash flood. Earlier, the news agency reported that at least 10 people were feared dead in the incident, with the toll expected to rise as rescue operation is going on.
The NDRF team has confirmed that two teams consisting of around 180 personnel equipped with advanced rescue gear, have been dispatched from their Udhampur base to Kishtwar district following the cloudburst.
The Cloudburst hit the Chasoti — the last motorable village en route to the shrine — and also impacted Narang.

Amit Shah Responded by stating, “Spoke with the LG and Chief Minister of J&K on the cloudburst in Kishtwar district. The local administration is conducting relief and rescue operations. NDRF teams have promptly been rushed to the site. We are closely monitoring the situation and stand firmly with the people of Jammu and Kashmir through every situation. Assured of all possible assistance to the people in need.”
Omar Abdulla stated, “I just spoke to the Union Home Minister @AmitShah Sb to brief him about the developing situation in Kishtwar region of Jammu. The news is grim & accurate, verified information from the area hit by the cloud burst is slow in arriving. All possible resources are being mobilised from within & beyond J&K to manage the rescue operations. I’m not going to be speaking to channels or news agencies. The government will share information as & when possible.”
Control Room Set Up After at Jammu and Kashmir Cloudburst Area
Following the cloudburst, the Omar Abdullah-led J&K administration has set up a dedicated control room-cum-help desk in Paddar, about 15 km from the disaster site, to assist affected residents and pilgrims.
