Assam Special Task Force of Assam Police on 20 March arrested two top-rung leaders of ISIS terrorist from Dhubri, Assam. According to Police the terrorist arrested after they crossed over from Bangladesh. According to Assam Police chief public relations officer Pranabjyoti Goswami, the ISIS leader arrested in the Dharmasala area of Dhubri by STF. After that they transported to Guwahati for further interrogation.
According to Police based on secret information an STF team under Sri Parthasarathi Mahanta, IPS, IGP (STF), Sri Kalyan Kumar Pathak, APS, Addl SP, STF and other ranks deputed to location to arrested the terrorist on 19 March 2024. At around 4.15 am next day on 20 March 2024 an operation launched to arrest the terrorist in the international border. They detected the accused person from Dharmasala, Dhubri district of Assam.
After arrested the terrorists, Assam Police release a post for press release. In that press release they said, “Based on the input, an STF team under Sri Parthasarathi Mahanta, IPS, IGP (STF), Sri Kalyan Kumar Pathak, APS, Addl SP, STF and other ranks was deputed to locate and apprehend the said accused who are also wanted of NIA. The team proceeded to Dhubri in the evening hours of 19/03/24.
Thereafter, since the input was credible in nature, a manhunt was launched in the international border area to nab the culprits. At around 4.15 am of 20/03/24, the accused persons detected at Dhamasala area of Dhubri after they crossed the international border.”
ISIS India Head arrested in Assam identified
The both ISIS identified as Haris Farooqi alias Harish Ajmal Farukhi of Chakrata, Dehradun the head of ISIS in India. And another one is Anurag Singh alias Rehan of Panipat who converted to Islam and his wife is a Bangladeshi national. Both of them are highly indoctrinated and motivated leaders/ members of ISIS in India.
There several cases pending against them at NIA, Delhi, ATS, Lucknow etc. The terrorist will handover by STF, Assam to NIA for taking up further legal actions against these fugitives.
