Wife Arrested in Meghalaya Honeymoon Murder Case of Indore Man Raja Raghuvanshi, where the couple was missing for several days.

In a major breakthrough in the mysterious murder of Indore-based businessman Raja Raghuvanshi, his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur. The couple had gone to Meghalaya’s Cherrapunjee for their honeymoon when Raja was found murdered and his wife went missing.

According to Meghalaya police, Sonam allegedly hired contract killers to murder her husband during their trip. Meghalaya DGP Idashisha Nongrang confirmed that Sonam surrendered to police in Ghazipur. In addition, three men from Madhya Pradesh — all suspected contract killers — arrested in overnight raids. One was nabbed in Uttar Pradesh and the other two in Indore, police officials revealed.

Police sources said the accused confessed that they were hired by Sonam to kill her husband. Interrogations are ongoing, and the investigation is still active to trace one more suspect.

Timeline of the Crime of Indore Couple Husband Murder

The couple checked into Balaji Homestay in Nongriat on May 22 and last seen leaving the next day.

Their rented scooter was found abandoned at Sohrarim on May 24.
Ten days later, Raja’s dead body discovered at the bottom of a deep gorge near Weisawdong Parking Lot in Riat Arliang.
A blood-stained machete, suspected to have been used in the murder, was recovered near the scene.

A tourist guide from Mawlakhiat claimed he saw the couple with three unidentified men on the morning of May 23. The five individuals were climbing over 3,000 steps from Nongriat to Mawlakhiat. This eyewitness testimony helped connect the dots in the murder investigation.

CM Conrad Sangma Praises Meghalaya Police

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma commended the swift action by police, posting on X:
“Within 7 days a major breakthrough has been achieved by the #meghalayapolice in the Raja murder case … 3 assailants who are from Madhya Pradesh have been arrested, female has surrendered and operation still on to catch 1 more assailant .. well done #meghalayapolice”

Ongoing Investigation

The police continue to probe the murder conspiracy, focusing on the motive, digital evidence, and financial transactions linked to the suspects.
