Indore Couple Goes Missing in Meghalaya’s Cherrapunji

A couple from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, Sonam Raghuvanshi and her husband Raja Raghuvanshi, has gone missing in Sohra, Cherrapunji, one of Meghalaya most popular tourist destinations. They went there on a vacation but they went missing from the place. The couple has been gone missing for over 24 hours, raising serious concerns about their safety.

According to police officials, the Indore couple had rented a two-wheeler to explore tourist spots in Sohra, Meghalaya on Friday. Their rented vehicle was later found abandoned near the famous Sohra Rim viewpoint in East Khasi Hills district, but the Indore couple missing. Police confirmed that both their mobile phones have been switched off, and all attempts to contact them have failed.

The last known sighting of the couple was on Sunday. Since then, there has been no communication. Authorities have launched a full-scale search operation in and around Cherrapunji. Police officials are checking CCTV footage, speaking with local residents and covering nearby trails to find any leads about the couple.

East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police (SP) Vivek Syiem said the couple’s rented scooter was found near Sohra Rim, a well-known tourist spot located less than 60 kilometers from Shillong, the state capital. Sohra, also known as Cherrapunji, is famous for its beautiful waterfalls, living root bridges, and forest trails. It is also part of a sensitive ecological area near the Bangladesh border.

Tourist safety in Meghalaya has come under the spotlight due to this incident. Police have assured that every possible effort is being made to trace the missing couple.
