The Indian passport has ranked at the position of 77th globally, according to Henley Passport Index 2025, which reflect to a little improvement compared to last year ranking of 80th. India has climbed three places, now sharing with the 77th spot with three other country Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, and Senegal. This year Indian can enjoy visa-free access to 59 countries.
The index, which ranks 199 passports across 227 travel destinations, measures the global mobility of passport holders based on how many countries they can enter without a prior visa. This marks India’s second consecutive year of improvement, even though the number of visa-free destinations has decreased slightly from 62 in 2024 to 59 in 2025. The change in rank reflects a relative improvement compared to other countries’ performance.

Top Countries in 2025 Henley Passport Index:
- 1st: Singapore – Visa-free access to 194 countries
- 2nd: Japan and South Korea – 190 countries
- 3rd: Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Denmark, Finland, Ireland – 189 countries
Unlike 2024, Singapore now holds the top spot alone, with Japan dropping slightly.
