Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited flood-affected areas in Silchar on Tuesday to assess the ongoing relief operations and meet displaced residents. During his visit in the relief centre he talk with the flood hit families.
First CM visit, visited the Government Boys’ School in Sadarghat, Silchar, where flood-affected people gave him a warm welcome by showering flower petals. Stranded children sang songs for him, and many people excitedly took selfies with him.
He also checked the availability of medicines and the presence of healthcare staff at the site.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, along with Water Resources Minister Pijush Hazarika, visited the Tarapur Shibbari Road sinking zone to inspect the progress of the elevated corridor. The piling work is still incomplete.
The CM noted that the work is delayed because of the weak soil in the area. He suggested using a new pillar-setting technology that doesn’t need much land.
Silchar Flood 30,340 people affected
As of June 2, ASDM report 30,340 people affected due to flood in Silchar. They were staying in the relief centre in Silchar. The most flood affected area is Kalibari char, Rongpur, Karati Gram etc.
Sribhumi-Silchar road disrupt because of overflowing river on the road in the area of Salchapra.
The Barak River Water is above the danger level, currently at around 1 pm the water level was 21.47 meter and trends falling by 1 cm. We know that, the danger level is 19.83.
During Press conference in Cachar DC office he stated, “Today early morning PM Narendra Modi has phone called, he also asked about the current flood situation in Assam.” He stated about the flood situation of both Barak and Brahmaputra valley. The Central Government will also help in this situation.
He also stated that within 3-4 days he will come back to Barak Valley again to visit Sribhumi and asses the flood situation.
