A major stampede incident took place in Mansa Devi Temple, Haridwar, Uttarakhand, in which 6 people reported dead and more then 30 injured on 27th July. Relief and rescue operation is going on. After the stampede incidents police and administration teams immediately arrived at the scene.
According to information, the incident took place at around 9:00 am on Sunday morning. The incident happened after someone who spread a rumour of electric shock among the devotees climbing the temple. This caused panic and led to a stampede. In the chaos, people fell on top of each other, and many devotees got trapped and injured amid the screams.
As soon as the information came in, police and officials reached the spot and began rescue work. The injured taken to the nearest hospital. The situation is now under control, but people in the area are still scared because of the incident.

Pramendra Singh Dobal, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Haridwar, said that, “The police force reached the spot immediately and began the rescue operation. Around 35 injured people were admitted to the hospital, out of which six deaths have been confirmed. The main cause behind the stampede appears to be panic triggered by rumours about an electric current.”
President Murmu and PM Modi Express Grief Over Haridwar Mansa Devi Temple Stampede
PM Narendra Modi show condolence and stated, “Deeply saddened by the loss of lives due to a stampede on the route to Mansa Devi Temple in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. Condolences to those who lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon. The local administration is assisting those affected”.
Droupodi Murmu, President of India stated, “The news of the death of many devotees in the stampede accident on the way to the Mansa Devi Temple in Haridwar is deeply painful. I express my heartfelt condolences to all the grieving families. I pray that all the injured devotees recover quickly.”
Uttarakhand CM Announces Compensation
CM Pushkar Singh Dhami stated, “Mansa Devi Temple in Haridwar, which claimed the lives of 6 people, is deeply saddening. I pray to God that the souls of the departed find a place at His divine feet and that the grieving families granted the strength to bear this immense sorrow. The state government will provide financial assistance of 2 lakh rupees to the families of the deceased and 50,000 rupees to the injured. Additionally, orders have been issued for a magisterial inquiry into the incident.”
