Guwahati: STF Arrested Fake Gold Dealer

A successful operation conducted by the Assam Police Special Task Force (STF). A person accused of dealing in fake gold items was arrested in Guwahati on Wednesday.

The STF revealed in a statement that the operation took place in the Bhangagarh area near the TV Tower, Guwahati. The arrested individual, identified as Dilwar Hussain, aged 30 years and a resident of Lakhimpur’s Bihpuria. He was found in possession of over a kilogram of fake gold items during the raid.

Seizure Details and Identification of the Accused

Officials reported that 1.485 kilograms of suspected fake gold, Rs 770 in cash, and a mobile phone seized from Hussain during the operation. The STF has initiated legal proceedings against him.

Nagaon Police Busts Fake Currency Notes Operation

Earlier, Nagaon Police in Assam apprehended two individuals in connection with a significant fake currency notes bust on Tuesday. The operation unfolded at Ambagan in the district’s Rupahihat area.

During the raid, police discovered machines used for printing fake currency notes, which subsequently seized. Two individuals, Faizul Islam and Rashidul Hoque, both residents of Dhekeliputar, detained at the scene. Authorities noted that the operation jointly carried out by Kaliabor and Samaguri Police.

These recent developments underscore the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies in Assam to combat various forms of illicit activities, including the trade of counterfeit gold and fake currency notes. Legal actions pursued against the apprehended individuals as part of these initiatives.
