Two Woman Arrested for robbing a youth in Guwahati

A robbery incident took place in Guwahati, but this time two women looted a youth who came from Tinsukia for work, near Ganeshguri.

According to reports, two woman threated a youth with knife and robber Rs 18,000 under Ganeshguri flyover. After getting about the information of the robbery incident in Guwahati, Dispur police launched an immediate manhunt and arrest bot of them within hours.

The Youth identified as Sail Basfor, from Tinsukia traveled to Guwahati for work. This youth was targeted by two accused woman. Among the two woman, Jagmoni Begum approached him in a friendly way and took him to a quiet spot under a flyover, where her partner, Amina Begum, was waiting.

The woman than cornered the youth and threated him with a sharp weapon before demanding the money. Scared and unable to fight back, he gave them Rs 18,000 in cash.

After the incident the youth Sail Basfor filed a complaint at the Dispur Police. The police respond the complaint and launched nighttime operation to arrested the suspects.

Janmoni Begum from Mangaldoi and Amina Begum from Chaygaon were arrested and charged with armed robbery.

The incident has raised concerns about safety in Guwahati. Crime DCP East said the bold nature of the robbery shows how public safety is getting worse. “Now, even men are not safe in Guwahati,” the officer said, calling for more security in crowded public places.

After the incident, police have increased patrols near the busy Ganeshguri flyover.
