Gujarat Flood: At least 28 people died and nearly 18,000 people evacuated from flood affected areas of Gujarat. Many people also spotted crocodiles in some areas of Vadodara because many rivers have overflowed as water levels cross the danger level.
Vadodara, Jamnagar, Rajkot, and Saurashtra are among the worst-hit regions, with residents struggling through waist-deep water in desperate efforts to reach safety.
Since Sunday, Gujarat has been facing heavy rainfall, which caused massive flooding in the region. The River Vishwamitri is overflowing as the water level crosses the danger level. Several low-lying residential areas of Vadodara are under flood. According to Health Minister Rushikeash Patel, more than 5,000 people have been relocated and over 12,000 people have been rescued in Vadodara as of August 28.
A rescue team from NDRF and a state team rescued people deployed in the Vadodara city to rescue the people of the flood-affected area. Today, August 29, is the fourth consecutive day of the flood. A team of army officials deployed for the rescue operation.
On August 27 morning, the Vishwamitri River, which flows through the city, crossed the danger mark of 25 feet.
The Jamnagarโs Ranjit Sagar Dam also overflows as the water level reaches 29 feet after continuous heavy rainfall.
Crocodile spotted in many areas of Gujrat due to flood
A video goes viral where a crocodile spotted over the roof of a house in Gujrat Vadodara. The residents of the neighbourhood were in fear after seeing the crocodile.
Another video went viral where a crocodile was seen moving in flood water with a street dog clutched into its jaw. As per reports of media, a group of crocodiles has entered the city due to the overflowing Vishawmitri River. People are now afraid to go out of the house in flood water for crocodiles.
Residents of Kamnath Nagar near Fatehgunj in Vadodara, Gujarat, were shocked when a crocodile swam through the floodwaters and reached a house of the neighbour.
PM Modi Called the Gujarat CM to look over the Flood situation in Gujarat.
PM Narendra Modi called Gujrat CM Bhupendra Patel on Thursday to get information about the situation. He also assured center support to the state in tackling the flood situation.
CM Bhupendra Patel said via social media post. He stated, โAs it has been raining heavily for the last three days across Gujarat, Hon’ble Prime Minister Mr. @narendramodi ji once again had a telephonic conversation with me this morning to get information about the situation. He learned about the relief measures for the affected people in various districts of the state. Expressing concern over the flooding of the Vishwamitri river in Vadodara, he sought details of the relief and assistance being provided to the affected people. The Hon’ble Prime Minister gave guidance on matters including sanitation and public health in the flooded areas and to restore public life quickly, and once again assured all support from the Central Government.โ

IMD has forecast IMD has forecast extremely heavy rainfall over Saurashtra and Kachchh till tomorrow.
The IMD stated deep depression over Saurashtra & Kachchh remained practically stationary during past 6 hrs and about 50 km north-northwest of Bhuj (Gujarat). To move W-SW and emerge into northeast Arabian Sea by morning of 30th August. While moving W-SW over northeast Arabian Sea away from the Indian coast, there is a possibility of its temporary and marginal intensification over northeast Arabian Sea on 30th August.โ
