A shocking incident took place at Geetanagar College, where a student commit suicide from the college campus building on March 3, morning.
The student identified as Sandipshana Raj, second-semester student in the Economics Department, who jumped from the fourth floor of a building of the college campus.
According to reports, she left home at around 8:30 and went to college, where she later jumped from the building. She was immediately rushed to the KGMT Multispecialty Hospital in critical condition. Later she was sifted from the hospital at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.

A college union member said that a history professor was the first to spot her after the incident and took her to KGMT Hospital for treatment.
The student representative said that after primary treatment, she was referred to GMCH. The principal, teachers and union members rushed to the hospital, but doctors pronounced her dead.
He also stated that Sandipshna was a bright student with regular attendance but showed signs of possible mental distress.
The reason behind the incident is not known yet. The dead body is sent for postmortem for further investigation.
