Former Cricketer of Sri Lanka, Dhammika Niroshana who played under 19 has shot dead. According to local media reports, he was shot dead at 41 years at his residence Kanda Mawatha in Ambalangoda on July 16, Tuesday at night.
He was at his home with his wife and two children when an unidentified individual shot him.
The former cricketer was killed by using a 12-bore fire arm. The unidentified individual has not yet been arrested. The police also suspect that killing is related to an underworld gang rivalry.
The Sri Lanka Police are currently investigating the incident. According to Police spokesperson Nihal Thalduwa, stated that investigation is underway to arrest the individual involved in shooting.

Dhammika Niroshana was a right-arm fast bowler and capable lower-order batsman. He was a player of under-19 International Sri Lanka Cricket team. He played 12 first class matched and 8 list- A games for Galle Cricket Club from 2001 to 2004. In his career as player, he scored over 300 runs and takes 19 wickets.
Dhammika Niroshana began to play for Sri Lankan U19 team in the year 2000. He also played under-19 test match and ODI cricket for two years. He also played as a captain for 10 matches, leading future star like Farveez Maharoof, Angelo Mathews, and Upul Tharanga. Dhammika never played for Senior Sri Lankan Cricket team. In the year 2004 he played last Cricket match.
