The Forest department of Sribhumi has issued a formal eviction notices to the residing illegal people within the reserved forest area of Cheragi in Sribhumi district. The government has stated the encroachers to vacate the forest land within one month. It also stated warning that failure to comply will lead to legal action, including the demolition of any structures on the land.
According to official notice, that the occupants have illegally encroached on protected forest land and caused damage to the forest by building a house and engaging in cultivation activities on that land.
As per notice, the occupants are directed to vacate the protected forest land within one (1) month of receiving this notice. Failing to do so will result in legal action under Section 72(C) of the Assam Forest Regulation.
