Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman arrived at Guwahati airport on Thursday, marking the start of her official four-day visit to Meghalaya. She was warmly welcomed by Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on behalf of the people of the state.
She is on her way to Meghalaya under tight security.
Soon after reception in Guwahati, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman proceeded towards Meghalaya amid tight security arrangements. Her visit will involve a series of official programs and engagements, focused on development, entrepreneurship, and community outreach.

July 11: Inaugurations and Interactions in Shillong
- Sitharaman will inaugurate the Polo Shopping Complex.
- She will interact with interns of the Project Monitoring Information System (PMIS).
- She is scheduled to inaugurate the Northeast Conclave and lay the foundation stone of the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) campus at IIM Shillong.
- The minister will also visit Shillong Tech Park at Umsawli.
- Later, she will inaugurate an exhibition featuring products of farmers and entrepreneurs at the Lariti International Centre.
12 July: Community and Industry Engagements
- Sitharaman will hold a meeting with industry leaders at Courtyard Marriott in Shillong.
- She will then interact with Women Self-Help Groups (SHGs), ‘Lakhpati Didis’, and Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) in Laitkynsew village.
- In Siej village, she will meet beneficiaries of the Payment for Ecosystem Services Programme.
- The day will conclude with her participation in a public programme at Sohbar village, located near the Indo-Bangladesh border, recognized as one of India’s 96 Vibrant Villages.
July 13: Educational Visit Before Departure
- On her final day, Sitharaman will visit the Ramakrishna Mission School in Sohra.
- After completing her engagements, she is scheduled to return to New Delhi.
