A serious fake mutton controversy has surfaced in Ranchi Tila area under Jalay Gram Panchayat in Kailashahar. The incident has created tension among local residents.
According to locals, two youths—Mansa Munda and Sujit Bhumij—were allegedly selling beef while claiming it was goat meat. They belong to tea garden worker families. Moreover, they had been involved in the local meat business for a long time.
However, suspicion started growing recently. People began to question the quality and type of meat being sold. As a result, locals kept a close watch on their activities.
On Tuesday afternoon, the situation took a dramatic turn. Residents reportedly caught the accused red-handed while cutting meat at their home. Soon after, an argument broke out. Then, the situation escalated quickly.
An angry crowd gathered. The mob allegedly assaulted the two youths. Meanwhile, social worker Apu Shil reached the spot and questioned them. According to locals, the accused admitted to selling beef during the questioning.
Mob Reaction Raises Concerns
The situation became more intense after that. Enraged villagers allegedly forced the accused to do sit-ups while holding their ears. In addition, some people even cut their hair as punishment.
This act has raised serious concerns. Many are now questioning why people took the law into their own hands.
So far, it is not clear whether any formal complaint has been filed with the police. At the same time, several questions remain unanswered. For instance, how long was this going on? Were more people involved? What was the source of the meat?
Right now, the area remains tense. However, the administration is reportedly keeping a close watch on the situation. The fake mutton issue has once again highlighted the need for strict monitoring and proper legal action.
