A 23 years old, 4th year Engineering student from Mizoram stabbed to death by a batchmate near his college in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, Police said on Sunday.
The accused student is also stated from Mizoram. According to Police, the batchmate has been taken into custody in connection of the incident.
The attack incident occurred at around 10:30 pm on Saturday, February 22 at a junction near 200 meters from the private college in Nagaroor, Kerala. Locals quickly informed the authorities, and the injured student was first rushed to a nearby hospital. He was later transferred to KIMS Hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries on Sunday morning.
The victim identified as VL Valentine from Mizoram and his batchmate, Lamsang Swala has taken into custody. According to local sources, both the victim and the suspect often argued, especially after drinking alcohol. Because of past incidents, they had been expelled from the college hostel.
Police confirmed that the suspect was caught at the scene, and the investigation is ongoing.
