Today (June 16) morning, a young dead body recovered from a pond in Mohanbari, Dibrugarh. A 29-year-old newly married man, Pranjal Das dead body was recovered from a pond under suspicious circumstances.
The incident is suspected to be murder by a unknown people. The victim’s family has alleged that he was killed and his body dumped in the pond by an unknown assailant.
According to reports, Pranjal, also known as Biki, left home around 9 PM on Sunday with a friend. Later, at around 11 PM he called his wife to inform her that he was heading home.
However, his phone was switched off shortly afterward and he never returned. Concerned about his sudden disappearance, the family contacted the Mohanbari Police, following which a search operation was launched.
On Monday, Pranjal’s scooter was found lying near a pond in Piraphala village, Lahowal. Further inspection revealed a pair of sandals floating in the water, raising suspicion of drowning.
Local residents grew suspicious after noticing a pair of sandals floating on the water. With the help of the SDRF team, Pranjal’s body was recovered from the pond. His family alleges that an unknown person deliberately drowned him in the pond and has demanded strict punishment for the killer.
Police have sent the body for post-mortem examination at Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) and have launched an investigation into the case.
Meanwhile, Pranjal’s seven-month pregnant wife has been left devastated by the loss.
