In a shocking incident, a sum of Rs 2 Lakh Stolen from a contractor’s parked motorcycle in Tezpur on April 8.
According to reports, the victim identified as Harendra Rai, who had reportedly withdrawn the amount from the State Bank of India’s Tezpur branch earlier in the day. After that he kept the cash inside the storage compartment (commonly known as the “dicky”) of his motorcycle bearing registration number AS12F2598. The cash meant for labor payments.
The theft incident occurred when Harendra makes to a short stop to buy medicine from Cheraogi Chemicals near Abhiraj Bank in the Kachari Gaon area—under the jurisdiction of Tezpur Police Station. During short stoppage the thief break the dicky of the vehicle and fled with the cash.

Tezpur Police has launched an investigation and also reviewing the CCTV footage from nearest shop to identify the accused.
The incident, taking place in a crowded area during daytime hours, has sparked concern among residents regarding rising theft cases and declining public safety in the city.
