Cyclone Fengal: 7 People of a family member trapped under landslide in Tamil Nadu, feared dead

Seven Member of a family, including five children feared trap in a landslide in Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu on Sunday. Heavy rainfall took place for a few days due to Cyclone Fengal in the area of Tamil Nadu which trigged landslide in the area. Three houses were buried under the debris of Landslide.

A Rescue operation is going on at the scene.

A joint rescue operation was launched by District Collector Bhaskar Pandian, local rescue teams and 30 NDRF members who reached the spot along with hydraulic lifts and two sniffer dogs to assist them in this operation.

According to information, the landslide took place at around 4.30 pm on Sunday due to continuous rainfall around the state caused by Cyclone Fengal. As soon as the landslide occurred the neighbours alerted police and fire serviceman to rescue. Getting the information about it, police immediately arrived at the scene and started Rescue operation, but as rain continued, the rescue operation could not carry out.

Tamil Nadu Landslide

 Collector D Baskar Pandian, along with police officers, rushed at the spot to oversee the rescue operation. The rescue operation is handed over to NDRF team, and they continued the operation on Monday morning.

The family members identified as, Rajkumar, his wife Meena, their two children and three children of Meenaโ€™s Brother.

On Saturday the Cyclone Fengal made landfall on the coast of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. This cyclone bring heavy rainfall and induced widespread destruction in the region.

Due to Cyclone Fengal school remains closed in several areas of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. In Puducherry, a record of 46 centimeter of rain has been record, due to cyclone. More than 600 people were rescued from flooded areas. The Indian Army gave food, water, and medical help to those affected.
