CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Visit Hailakandi Relief Centre in Flood Affected area

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma today, June 6, visited the flood relief camp in Hailakandi, and inquiring about the condition of the people of flood affected area. The visited flood relief camp are Kalinagar, Panchgram Relief Camps, RS Girls College and other.

He interact with the flood affected people who were took shelter in the relief camp for several days as there home is under water because of flood. After Sribhumi, Hailakandi is the most affected district in Assam because of flood, where 1,79,400 people suffering from flood. A total of 144 villages affected in Hailakandi.

The floodwater from overflowing Katakhal River have completely submerged the Algapur police outpost. The flood situation has also affected the healthcare services.

The Kalinagar Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Hailakandi was submerged after continuous heavy rainfall, disrupting its regular operations. Prior to the flooding, the PHC was handling emergency cases, but rising water levels forced the relocation of services. Authorities have shifted all medical operations, including essential medicines and equipment, to a safer building nearby. Four doctors and seven nurses are now continuing emergency healthcare services from the new location to support the affected population.

Because of flood the schools of Hailakandi has closed until June 6. Classes are expected to resume after June 9, depending on the weather and safety conditions.

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma stated, “Today visited a camp in Hailakandi where flood victims are taking shelter.

As a precautionary caution of various health issues that may occur at this time, we have arranged a team of medical providers and other facilities are also available.

Took stock of a relief camp in Hailakandi where the flood affected people are sheltered.

We are providing all necessary facilities in the camp including fully equipped Medical teams to oversee any health requirements.”
