A tragic incident took place in Pathsala near Kalighat, Bajali district of Assam, on April 27, where a class 8 student, identified as Kunal Barman, lost his life after falling into a ditch under mysterious circumstances.
Kunal Barman, who was a student of Christ Jyoti School and hailed from Sadereguri village under the Ghatbor area of Bajali district.
According to reports, Kunal along with his four friends, went far away in isolated field early morning on April 27, which is far away from main road.
The group reportedly spent a considerable amount of time in the isolated area before the tragic accident occurred.
Shocking, after Kunal fell into the ditch, the friends with him fled the scene, which raised concerns about the nature of the incident.
Upon receiving about the incident, police assisted by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), immediately rushed to scene, a search and rescue operation launched.
The SDRF team successfully recovered the body of Kunal.
Further investigation is going on, to uncover the circumstances that led the group of boys into such a secluded and dangerous location.
The reasons behind their actions are currently unclear and have been described by officials as suspicious.
