In a targeted operation aimed at the transportation of narcotics, Cachar Police on 30 March 2024 conducted a successful operation on the evening, at the Manipuri Market, Islamabad, Bagha Bazaar, under the jurisdiction of Dholai Police Station.
Acting on credible intelligence, police arrested two suspects and seized a huge amount of suspected heroin from the area. The estimated value of the seized narcotics in the black market would be two crores.
The two suspected accused identified as Md Mojibur Rahman Borbhuiya and Hirumoni Laskar.
According to Superintendent of Cachar Police, Numal Mahatta, the operation resulted in the apprehension of Md Mojibur Rahman Borbhuiya, aged 27, and Hirumoni Laskar, aged 27. The confiscated contraband, weighing approximately 375 grams and packed in 31 soap boxes, is believed to be heroin.
The accused individuals, are residents of Cachar. They were allegedly transporting the illegal substance from Aizawl the capital of Mizoram. The seized narcotics have been sealed by the police in the presence of witnesses. Further investigation is going on.
