Cachar Police in a joint operation with BSF seized 20 thousand Yaba Tablet worth Rs.6 Cr and arrested a man in connection of it.
On August 4, under the leadership of Officer-in-Charge (O.C) Joseph V. Kaivom, a joint operation conducted by Cachar ’s Katigorah Police, BSF (Border Security Force) personnel from Silchar Headquarters and 170 No. battalion of BSF from Harinagar Border Outpost.
The operation was took place in Katigorah Part-III area of Cachar district, Assam. In this raid they managed to seized 20 thousand Yaba Tablets weighing over two kilogram and motorcycle used for smuggling. The operation targeted the residence of Mustak Ahmed Barbhuiya, according to BSF.
When the police arrived for the raid, Mustak and two others tried to escape. Mustak was caught after a struggle, but the other two escaped.
After questioning Mustak Ahmed, he said the seized Yaba tablets were brought on a motorcycle with the registration number AS 11Z 8907 from Bhaga Bazar in Lailapur, Cachar, near the Mizoram border. The tablets were transported by Rebul Hussain Laskar and another person.
The investigation is going on as to arrest the suspect who managed to escape.
CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said praised the effort of the Police force through social media. He stated, “Crackdown on Drugs continues In an anti-narcotics operation carried out by @cacharpolicein Katigorah, a special operation was conducted leading to the seizure of 20,000 YABA tablets worth ₹6cr. The narcotics substance was being transported from a neighbouring State. One person has been apprehended along with a vehicle. Good job @assampolice #AssamAgainstDrugs”
