To Stop Road accident caused by drunk driving, Cachar police administration has introduced Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for public safe.
Under the SOP the resident who will caught driving under the influence of alcohol will face strict penalties fine of Rs 10,000 and immediate driving license cancellation.
The administration of Cachar district has enforced the decision by deploying dedicated teams with breath analyzers to identify intoxicated drivers and penalize them.
This is one of the measures to reduce the increasing drunk driving problem and make the roads safer for everybody.
On December 20, 2024, in collaboration with the excise and transportation ministries, Cachar Police began an active campaign to popularize the new SOP in Silchar.
This is a crucial step toward reducing the road accidents, stopping drunken-driving and making the surrounding environment safe for commuters. The administration urged every citizen to obey and cooperate by the rules to be protected from strict penalties.
