Cachar: In a major crackdown on digital misinformation, Cachar Police have arrested a youth from Udharbond for allegedly sharing a video with strong anti-India undertones.
The accused, identified as Intesab Ahmed Laskar of Gosaipur, Udharbond. He reportedly circulated a video originally created by a Pakistani national. The clip controversially claimed that the recent terror attack in Pahalgam was a staged operation by India to attack Pakistan.

The video quickly gained traction on social media, sparking public outrage and prompting law enforcement agencies to take swift action. Police tracked Laskar’s online activities during a preliminary inquiry, which lead to his detention under suspicion of spreading content harmful to national unity and security.
Authorities have confirmed that an investigation is going on determine whether Laskar acted alone or was influenced by a larger network with possible cross-border links.
Police officials stressed the importance of using social media responsibly and reiterated that stern measures will take against individuals misleading content.
CM Himanta Biswa Sarma already stated that “Assam will not tolerate any individual who, directly or indirectly, supports or defends Pakistan in connection with the heinous attack in Pahalgam.”
