Cachar Special Court has Sentenced a drug trafficker to 10 years of jail on 30th July under NDPS Act. After 7 years of the case the drug trafficker got the punishment.
The convict identified as Abul Hussain, a resident of Fulertal Hill Punji under Lakhipur Police Station, Cachar. The sentenced was predicted by Judge Biprajit Roy, on Wednesday.
According to officials, the case was registered on August 29, 2018, when the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized a huge amount of narcotics substance, methamphetamine tablets, from his home. The seized items weighing 3.710 kg, worth would be over Rs. 3.5 crore.
Acting on a tip-off, DRI officials raided Hussain’s house and discovered the drugs hidden in his kitchen. A detailed investigation followed, leading to the trial and Wednesday’s court verdict.
The court found Abul Hussain guilty under Section 22(C) of the NDPS Act and handed him a 10-year prison sentence, along with a fine of ₹1 lakh.
If he fails to pay the fine, he will have to serve an additional three months in jail.
