A couple in Bongaigaon, Assam has confessed selling of two infant, one whom had allegedly purchased by a serving police officer. The incident has disturbed the locality.
The parents of the infant have identified as Pranab Das and Budhu Bala Das, who voluntarily has surrendered before the Bongaigaon Child Welfare Committee, they has admitted that they had sold both of their children.
What has made shaken the community, when the public know that one of the infant was allegedly purchased by a police officer who currently serving in Bongaigaon. Though the identity of the officer has not yet disclosed. The serious allegation has fueled public outrage and amplified calls for a thorough, impartial investigation.
The case became even more alarming when, for several hours, the whereabouts of the second child remained unknown. The parents initially withheld information but later admitted that the second infant had sold to a businessman from Bilasipara. But Authorities have not yet confirm the identity of the businessman.
The incident has shocked the locals and child welfare advocates when it found that the involvement of police officer, someone who protect citizens.
