Bangladesh student protest: Bangladesh Police has composed ‘Shoot-on-Sight’ orders to quell the student protest. The government of Bangladesh has extended the nationwide curfew till 3.00 pm local time on Sunday. The curfew has been imposed in Bangladesh on July 19. The soldiers patrolling the empty street of Dhaka.
According to reports more than 100 protestors have been killed in this student protest nationwide in Bangladesh in police firing and 25,000 protestors have injured.
Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Shekh Hasina has declared Sunday and Monday as public holiday, only emergency services are permitted to be done. The Supreme court of Bangladesh will hear on the controversial job quotas later in the day.
The Government of Bangladesh has imposed a nationwide internet shutdown on Thursday. Government website also remain offline.
Around 1000 Indian Students has returned home from Bangladesh. 778 students has returned home through land borders and 200 students through fights has returned on Saturday, according to Ministry External Affairs.
How did the Bangladesh Students Protest Escalates?
The Bangladeshi student is protesting to end the quota system which reserves more than half of civil service post for certain groups. 30 % of the post of civil cervices were for reserved for relatives of veterans who fought in Bangladesh’s war for independence from Pakistan in 1971.
The reserved roles are come with job security and high pay. Protestors said that the quota system were benefited supporters of PM Haisna’s ruling party Awami Legue Party. They are calling for hiring based on merit.
The protest began escalated on July 1 at the Dhaka University, later it spread on other campus and cities nationwide. Almost every day, protestors gathered at the street which result blockage of roads and railways.
The Protest got violent on July 15 when a member of the Bangladesh Chatra League-the student of the ruling Awami League party-reportedly attack by protesters inside the Dhaka University campus, according to CNN.
The student protester Hossain told CNN he was injured at a rally at Dhaka University on Wednesday when a projectile was thrown into the crowd.
