On February 5, the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-corruption, Assam team arrested an assistant engineer for accepting bribe immediately in Jorhat, Assam.
According to reports, a complaint was reported at the Anti-corruption cell, accusing that an Asstt. Engineer of Central Block Development office Siba Prasad Saikia, demanded a bribe of Rs 15,000 from a complainant for clearance of MGNREGA bills.
Based on the complaint, Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-corruption, Assam team trapped red handed Siba Prasad Saikia at Central Block Development office, Jorhat.
Following the collection of sufficient evidence, authorities arrested a public servant, leading to the registration of ACB P.S. Case No. 12/2025 at the ACB Police Station, Jorhat, under Section 7(a) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018).
The directorate of vigilance & Anit corruption, Assam stated, “Today @DIR_VAC_ASSAM trapped red handed Siba Prasad Saikia, Asstt. Engineer of Central Block Development office, Jorhat immediately after he accepted Rs 15000/- as bribe from the complainant for clearance of MGNREGA bills.”
