In a major crack down on banned meat across the state, Assam Police arrested a smuggler with 200 kg beef during raid in Dhubri district on Thursday morning.
Based on tip-off, a police team led by Officer-in-charge Debajit Kalita of Golakganj Police Station conduct an operation at the area of Biratnagar Chariali along NH-17. During the operation police intercepted a scooty en-route to Gauripur. When police signaled to stop, the rider attempt to flee but crashed the vehicle.

Although the driver escaped arrest, while one person—Azizur Rahman, a resident of Mansai under Bakshirhat Police Station in West Bengal—was caught at the spot. During the inspection of the scooty, officials found 200 kg of banned beef hidden inside the vehicle.
