A tragic incident took place in Cachar, Assam, where a police officer allegedly died after consuming Gutka on June 23.
The Assam police officer identified as Surajit Deka, in-charge of Bihara Police Outpost under Katigorah Constituency Assembly.
As per reports, the police officer collapsed unconscious inside his official quarters shortly after consuming Gutka. He was discovered unconscious by the fellow officers and rushed to his aid. They broke the door and rushed him to the hospital.
Firstly they took the police officer to the local Bikrampur Hospital, but due to his critical nature of his condition, he referred to Silchar Medical College and Hospital. But despite efforts of doctors to save him, he died during treatment.
The sudden death of the has sent shockwaves through the local police fraternity. Police Officer Surajit Deka originally from Rangia.
While Gutka consumption is suspected to be the cause of death, but authorities has not confirmed the exact cause of death.
A detailed medical post mortem report will shed the further light on the matter.
